MAIL TIME!

Complements of Liverrsss (aka Olivia Mannnnsino)

People try to mail some funny things at the Pack 'n' Ship.

Joke of this week was that one of my co-workers sent a package to China and the customs description was cut so that it simply read:
1 used foot.

HAHAHA.. Needless to say, customs had an issue letting it into the country.

When Marimba Rythms Start to Play...

I. LOVE. DANCESPORT.

Just thought I'd get that out there.

A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to dance the Cha-Cha in the 2010 National Amateur DanceSport Competition.

My partner Devin and I made it all the way to the quarter-final round, and were amongst the top 30 or so couples (out of roughly 175). The whole day was one giant rush of excitement. :D

Beats so Big they're Stepping on Leprechauns...

AH. Tonight I went to this UH-MAZ-ING Acapella Concert, and walked away speechless.
Vocal Point was mainly featured, and although I've seen them before--they NEVER cease to amaze me. If you've never seen them--YouTube it up. They are fantastic.

They didn't do this one tonight--but I love it. :D
How they make all those sounds, is beyond me.

"Remember When it rained"
This one was better live. But still--close your eyes and you could SWEAR Josh Groban is singing.

My Personal Favorite. :D
(Also better tonight Live)
Personal Goal: Have them sing to ME one day. It'll happen.

There's plenty more where those came from though. Ah. They are the best.

Like a message in the sand..

...Only it was written in chalk on the sidewalk.

I took a different route home from the library late on this ever-so-blessed Friday night of this Valentines weekend only to see:

"Я тебя люблю"

Written on the walkway.

I don't know many Russian phrases, but I recognized this one.

And it made my night.

Take that, Calculus.

I took my first statistics test of the semester today. After 2 hours in the Testing Center I was greeted by a friendly message on the results screen:

100% Perfect Score!

Seeing as BYU Calculus kicked my little hiney last winter, a happy dance was in order.

To the mathematical world I'd like to say:

TAKE THAT!!!!

Boo Yoww!!! Hachachacha!!

Now you see it, Now you DON'T!!

I just bought this pen (actually, I bought like 4--but we won't discuss that)

I know what you're thinking.

A PEN?!
Really Whitney, are you going to Blog about a Pen?!

Friends, this is NO ORDINARY PEN.
THIS PEN WRITES IN INVISIBLE INK!!!!

HOW COOL IS THAT!?

Yup. I'm excited.

Sway with me

I met this guy this weekend.

I also met this one.

For those of you who have never indulged in watching a season of "Dancing with the Stars" these mighty fine men would be Derek Hough and Mark Ballas.

Attractive? Yes.

Derek seems like a bit of a drama queen though, but Mark seemed more down to Earth.
All in all? 'Twas quite the night.

F.I.V.E.

Yesterday,
Was absolute ludicrous.
It can be summed up,
By the Number 5.

FIVE!!!!

My name is Whitney, and I make my life even more complicated than it already is.

That is all.

GALAXIES- Far, far away!!

So a few weekends back, I had my mind blown. I visited the ever-so-wonderful BYU planetarium for the first time, and WOWZA, it was great.

During the presentation they put up on the large IMAX-type screen what I presume to be this lovely image below, taken by the Hubble Telescope.

On your meager computer screen with me as your moderately uninformed narrator, this wont be quite as awe-inspiring as it was for me, but stay with me for but a moment.

In the image above, each of those beautiful colored swirls--are galaxies. And the small glimmering whites that appear to be stars--ALSO Galaxies. (I believe. Maybe some of them are stars-ask a real Astronomer) My point? There are TONS of Galaxies in this picture. TONS! With all these galaxies, you would THINK this is an image of a large portion of the sky, right?

Wrong. Imagine taking a SINGLE GRAIN OF SAND and holding it out an ARMS LENGTH out at the HORIZON. THIS Image is comparable to the amount of horizon covered by that minute grain of sand.

THIS. Blows my mind. There are Millions of Billions of Zillions of other galaxies out there. All with millions of stars, with an innumerable number of planets revolving around them--most definitely WITH other people, other worlds, other forms of intelligences.

Even more amazing?? Even with this unfathomable number of other planets and worlds, with an incomprehensible amount of other people on them, God knows us. He knows our every thought, word, pain, sorrow, and triumph, and He loves US. Never mind the countless others, He loves us.

AND THAT, my friends, is fittingly "mind-blowing".

I love to see the Temple!

I love this place.

No matter what crazy, mixed up scenario life decides to toss in my direction--
There is peace to be found only 2.4 miles away.

A little 2010 inspiration by my friends Watson and Crick.

Alright. I have a confession. Ever since the clock struck midnight bringing in this new year, I've not-so-secretly been disgusted by the year 2010 as a whole. I not-so-secretly wanted 2010 to Magically disappear, and 2011 to burst out of nowhere, bringing back all of my friends. :D Really, it was a genius idea.

Today however, I had a change of heart. I decided. Today. This is MY year. My year to become the best me ever. My year to become a more diligent ad dedicated student, my year to grow closer to my Heavenly Father, my year to truly discover all that I am, my year to stand on my own two feet, my year for change.

I have to admit, that I have become content with being less-than-devoted to my schoolwork. But today, while pondering the miraculous nature of the findings of Watson and Crick (and getting all to excited), I decided. I'm better than this person I've allowed myself to become. When I TRULY get into what I'm learning--like about Nucleotides!!--haha, I LOVE to learn, and I'm completely capable of grasping the material, I've just got to do my part.

Same thing goes for, well, everything else I need to improve at. Unfortunately for my life-progression, I am naturally lazy. Ugh. I'm really not fond of this stumbling block of mine, yet it isn't the easiest to overcome. However, now's the time. Little by little. I'm going to be better.

This IS NOT a "resolution". Resolutions to me are stupid goals you forget about mid-January. This is just a continued optimistic outlook on life encouraging my personal improvement. (..Yeah, I see why they used the word "Resolution" now).

So no more resenting this beautiful new year. It's going to be GREAT. :D

In honor of this beautiful new beginning- a song. :P
